While we have in-studio incentives for academic progress, all learners are motivated and shaped more by family than they are by our efforts as Guides. It also brings a huge benefit to the studio when families are working with the ebb and flow of the studio as a team with Guides.Ĭhecking in on Journey Tracker (our program to track progress transparently) is needed daily for some learners and weekly for others. You'll be amazed to hear how deep even the youngest learner can go in a Socratic discussion. Not only do you get to add your thoughts on the subject, but you get to experience your child's learning with them. But when you know some of the topics we tackled, you can join in. Often you get a shrug as an answer to that question. This feed makes the dinner-time question of, "What did you do at school today?" a lot easier. We have a Daily Studio Feed that keeps you up to date on our topics of the day. So what are some of the things Acton parents are doing? This is the most involved I've ever been in the education of any of my children."

No homework means more time to shape a rich family life. With so many ways to enrich your time at home, it's a shame to have school take up your family time. As well as relaxed family time to enjoy reading together, taking a bike ride together, cooking together, a trip to the beach, a car show with dad. Personal interests have breathing room, whether athletic, academic, artistic or just time to play! All these can be enjoyed after school. No homework makes after-school sports and activities easier to manage. There is no need to do additional school work at home.* There is plenty of time to accomplish all school-based elementary academic (Badge Plan) goals at the studio.
The no-homework aspect of an Acton Elementary Studio can be misunderstood.
