After several attacks, we managed to find and dispel his invisibility. Strahd animated several statues and went greater Invisible. We presented the Lady Vasilka (per our promise to the Abbot) and positioned ourselves to attack. Though Strahd started opening crypt doors and releasing undead to harry us, we made it and found Strahd weeping over his brother's coffin. We went straight to Sergi's Tomb from there. Through luck and some delaying while a player was out for a bit, we managed to get even more magic, and found the tome of Strahd, the Thighbone of St Markovia, and the Staff of Power and leveled up to 8th and attuned while spending an hour in a Leomund's Tiny Hut. Since he was doing milestone leveling, that meant we wouldn't get higher than 7th level before having to confront Strahd - so we had been concentrating on getting magic weapons.Īfter we each got one (including the Sunsword for the paladin), and seeing Ireena to safety via some ghostly visit from Sergi through the Holy Spring in Kresk, we made our way to the castle with the Bride in tow. Our DM has been warning us for months that our card reading went pretty badly (he even let us do it again, and it turned out ALMOST exactly the same, simply trading the werewolf ally for the Bride of Kresk as our Ally), since the Tome of Strahd and the Holy Symbol of Ravenloft were both located in the crypts, and Strahd was located in his brother's crypt, along with the Holy Symbol. So, we're in the midst of our big battle with Strahd, in his brother's tomb under castle Ravenloft.
